Ik hou echt van luisterboeken. Zie het zelfs als één van mijn grootste hobbies!!! Sinds ik in 2013 Audible.com (onderdeel van Amazon) ontdekt heb is er geen houden meer aan: er wordt nauwelijks nog een boek in hardcopyversie gekocht. Alleen als het niet bij Audible te beluisteren is. Ik luister naar minstens drie audioboeken per maand, maar vaak zijn dat er meer. Vandeweek heb ik tijdens het schoonmaken twee hoofdstukken geluisterd van “How to connect in business in 90 seconds or less” , één van de luisterboeken van Nicholas Boothman. Gewoon lekker tijdens het stoffen 😉
Zes reden waarom audioboeken geweldig zijn:
- Je kunt écht multitasken! Ik kan op de gekste momenten luisteren naar een audioboek: tijdens het schoonmaken van de wc, het bladeren vegen in de volkstuin, het wegwerken van de was of het maken van avondeten.
- Audioboeken voegen een extra dimensie toe. Als je bijvoorbeeld naar “Do it! Marketing” luistert van David Newman kun je door de intonatie en zijn goeie grappen niet anders dan zelf mee lachen… Het boek (welke ik ook in hardcopy heb) is grappig, maar bij lange na niet het effect als het audioboek: die is hilarisch!
- Sommige boeken gewoon beter wanneer ze voorgelezen worden. Wie P. Harv Eker (Secrets of the Millionaire Mind) kent weet dat het een verrukkelijke spreker en performer is. De audioversie van zijn boek weet je op te zwepen, de duidelijk herkenbare nasale stem blijf je na het luisteren nog vaak als een echo horen… Het komt beter aan en zijn persoonlijkheid komt beter uit de verf.
- Je kunt ze makkelijk op reis meenemen. Een rit met trein, bus of vliegtuig gaat veel sneller met een lekker audioboek om te luisteren en je hoeft geen kilo’s papier mee te slepen.
- Het is de manier om mensen die niet van lezen houden aan “boeken” te krijgen. Voor mensen die moeite hebben met het uitlezen van een boek (dyslexie) is dit de manier om een boek “lezen” ook voor hen leuk en uitdagend te houden.
- Ik vind non-fictie interessanter wanneer ik naar luister. Een voorbeeld: ik heb Wuthering Heights van Emily Brontë wel vier keer in het Engels als gewoon boek geprobeerd te lezen maar was verveeld en geïrriteerd door het naar mijn gevoel ouderwetse en stijve Engels. Ik heb vervolgens het audioboek gedownload en nu is het één van mijn favoriete boeken!
